El Chorro Margarita

Sit back, close your eyes, and pretend you are enjoying this margarita while taking in the beautiful view at El Chorro in Phoenix.

El Chorro Margarita

1 1/2 ounces Casadors Repo Tequila
1 3/4 ounces fresh lime juice
1 3/4 ounces triple sec and sprite

Shake and serve in a 12 oz bucket glass with a short straw and lemon wedge.

Recipe: Watermelon Agave Margarita

Watermelon margarita recipe

 

Cinco de Mayo will be here before you know it. Enjoy this variation on the classic margarita from Relish Burger Bistro at The Phoenician.

Watermelon Agave Margarita

2 oz. Tequila (we recommend a reposado such as Siete Leguas or Anjeo such as Tonala)

1 – 1 ½ oz. agave nectar

Fresh muddled watermelon

Squeeze of lime

This Valentine's Day mix up this sweet cocktail for your sweetheart.

Valentine's Day Cocktail Recipe

Amore Smooch
Makes 1 serving

1 oz. Godiva White Liqueur

1 oz. Svedka Cherry Vodka

1 oz. Crème de Cacao

Mix all ingredients in a martini shaker. Strain into a stemless martini glass (bottom of the glass filled with crushed ice and two fresh rose petals). Garnish with three Svedka Cherry infused cherries, half dipped in chocolate.

Gingerbread Martini
Makes 1 serving

1 ½ oz. Belvedere Vodka
1 oz. Bailey’s
½ oz. Gingerbread Monin syrup
Crushed gingerbread cookie for the rim
Dip glass rim in Gingerbread Monin syrup and crushed gingerbread cookie.

Pour 1 ½ oz. Belvedere, 1 oz. Bailey’s, ½ oz. Gingerbread Monin syrup in a cocktail shaker. Add ice cubes; cover with lid, and shake vigorously until thoroughly chilled (about 30 seconds). Strain into a chilled martini glass.

Oatmeal Cookie Martini
Makes 1 serving

1 oz. Baileys
½ oz. Kahlua
½ oz. Goldschläger
½ oz. Butterscotch Schnapps
1 oz. Whipped cream
¼ cup Oreos, crushed for rim
Hershey syrup to dip the rim in and drizzle in glass

For the rim, crush Oreos till crumbled. Set aside in a shallow bowl. Pour Hershey syrup in a separate shallow bowl. Dip the rim of a martini glass into the syrup to coat the outer edge of the rim. Dab the rim into crushed Oreos while slowly turning the glass to the dip the rim into them.
In a martini shaker with strain, add ice, Baileys, Kahlua, Goldschläger, Butter Schnapps and whipped cream, and shake.
Drizzle the inside of the martini glass with Hershey Syrup.
Pour contents of shaker through strain into a martini glass and enjoy!

Chocolate Peppermint Martini
Makes 1 serving

1 oz. Godiva Chocolate Liqueur
1 oz. Crème de Menthe
1 oz. Absolute Vanilla
Splash of cream
Oreo cookie crumbs
Chocolate syrup

First, drizzle the inside of the martini glass with chocolate syrup. Next, rim the glass with Oreo cookie crumbles. Then simply add all other ingredients in a shaker. Shake and serve the rimmed martini glass.

White Christmas
Makes 1 serving

1.5 oz Partida Blanco Tequila
.5 oz Domaine de Canton
.5 oz Der Lachs Goldwasser
.5 oz Dolin Blanc Vermouth
1 dash Salt water
2 dashes AZBL Figgy Pudding Bitters

Stir and strain into old fashioned glass full of ice. For the garnish, Rosemary Christmas tree, orange peel star and powdered sugar snow.

Irish Coffee
Makes 1 serving

2 oz. Jameson Irish whiskey
2 oz. coffee
.5 oz brown sugar syrup
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup boiling water
Float lightly whipped cream on top.
2 oz heavy cream
2 tsps powdered sugar
Garnish with 3 coffee beans and one piece of mint.

To make the brown sugar syrup, mix ½ cup brown sugar with ¼ cup boiling water. Mix well and bottle.
To make the whipped cream, place 2 oz heavy cream and 2 tsp powdered sugar in mixing tin. Shake without ice for 7 seconds or until cream is lightly whipped where it will pour out and float on the drink.
Pour brown sugar syrup into cup, add coffee, add Jameson, and then top off with whipped cream.
Garnish with 3 coffee beans and one piece of mint.

Recipe: LON’s Maple Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Happy Thanksgiving to our friends in Canada (October 8th) and for those of us here in the U.S., the holidays are right around the corner. We hope as you gather around the table this holiday season with your family and friends that you'll enjoy this delicious recipe from LON's at the Hermosa Inn.

LON’s Maple Roasted Sweet Potatoes
Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients (in order)

Sweet Potatoes 2 lbs
Crystallized Ginger 1/2 tbsp minced
Maple Syrup 1/2 cup
Butter - diced 2 tbsp
Salt 2 tsp
Pepper 1 tsp
Star Anise 1/2 tsp
Nutmeg 1/2 tsp
Cinnamon 1tsp
Foil Bag 1 each

Instructions

Peel and cut potatoes into 1 inch cubes. Mince crystallized ginger. Toss potatoes, ginger, butter, salt, pepper, nutmeg and star anise with maple syrup. Place all ingredients in foil bag and seal. Place bag on grill and allow to cook for 30 minutes or until fully cooked.

Labor Day Drink Recipes

Stay cool poolside this weekend with these refreshing drink recipes. These cocktails are also available at OH Pool Bar + Cabanas at the Hotel Valley Ho if you don't feel like making them yourself.

Mint Cooler

1 ½ oz. of Grey Goose Citron Vodka
6 Leaves of Fresh Mint
1 Lime Wedge
½ oz. Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
½ oz. Simple Syrup
2 oz. Club Soda

Build in highball glass. Muddle mint, lime wedge, and simple syrup. Add vodka, lime juice, and ice. Mix well with bar spoon. Top with club soda and garnish with lime wedge.

Miami Vice

Strawberry Daiquiri:
- 2 oz. Cruzan Light Rum
- 3 oz. Daily’s Strawberry Daiquiri mix
- Splash of fresh pineapple juice
- Blend all ingredients with ice until slushy

Pina Colada
- 2 oz. Cruzan Light Rum
- 3 oz. Daily’s Pina Colada mix
- Splash of fresh pineapple juice
- Blend all ingredients with ice until slushy

Pour the Pina Colada into a 16-oz glass, then pour the Strawberry Daiquiri on top. Garnish with an orange wheel and a cherry.
